Project Information
Site
The site plan features a linear park that provides green space and a buffer for the nearby outdoor meditation area, ensuring privacy for a local cultural center. A pedestrian pathway connects Boise Avenue to the Bubb Canal pathway, with a multi-purpose area serving as common open space. This unique site presents challenges, including privacy concerns, the need to complement nearby single-family homes, and the narrow developable area. Yet it creatively maximizes the housing capacity given the lot size and meets the needs of approximately 27 families.
Green Terraces
The design includes private and semi-private outdoor balconies for each unit, offering faculty and staff spaces for meaningful conversations, outdoor offices, or quiet moments while working. Above several units, social mezzanines are incorporated as vibrant “bumping zones,” featuring picnic benches, elevated garden boxes, shade screening, and other elements to foster community interaction. These spaces are designed to create a dynamic atmosphere, building a strong sense of community and attracting talent to the university by providing an engaging environment that supports both work and social connection.
