Project Information
The adaptive reuse of the historic Swift Building in downtown Caldwell, Idaho, aims to transform this iconic structure into a vibrant hub for the community to live, work, and gather. Located near Indian Creek Plaza, the Swift Building offers an opportunity to revitalize a key part of Caldwell’s downtown, fostering economic growth and enhancing the local cultural landscape. UIO's proposal includes a comprehensive analysis of the area’s economic and geographic conditions to highlight the building’s potential. The large open floor plans and raw industrial architecture of the Swift Building make it an ideal candidate for adaptive reuse. Early concept designs identified a range of possible functions, including offices, studios, apartments, galleries, restaurants, and retail shops, creating a dynamic space that serves multiple community needs. This project reflects Caldwell's evolving character, blending its rich history with modern, flexible spaces that encourage engagement and growth in the heart of the city.
